July 20

CLOSURE NOTICE

We regret to announce that, due to the financial hardships associated with COVID-19, Slammers Gym will be shutting down at 9:00 pm on Thursday, September 30th.

Refunds will be issued for any pre-paid memberships that extend into October and beyond. If you have punch passes for any of our services, please use them up prior to the end of September.

Slammers Gym is currently up for sale and it’s possible that a buyer will wish to take over our operation and continue to run 4110 6th Avenue as a fitness facility. Since we can’t count on this, however, we suggest that you make plans based on a September 30th shuttering.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our members and our staff. People have spent thousands of hours working on their wellness in our complex, and we are pleased to have been able to contribute to the health of our community in this way.

Due to the most recent restrictions, all classes are cancelled until further notice. We’ll update the site and our Facebook page as soon as we have news that group classes can run again. Feel free to contact us in the meantime if you have any questions or concerns.

Good News!

We are happy to report that Island Health has just released COVID-19 safety protocols for indoor group low intensity exercise, which means we can once again offer Yoga classes! We will be releasing a fresh Yoga class schedule early January.

Also, our Tanning Studio is open once again! You can’t go south, so come on down and get baked in either our stand-up or lay-down beds!

We wish everyone a Very Merry Holiday Season and a Prosperous (hopefully COVID Free) New Year!

COVID-19 Update

Well, there’s good news and there’s bad news. Let’s start with the bad. We have to make some changes at Slammers in order to protect our people and comply with yesterday’s public health guidance from Dr. Bonnie. Effective immediately, we’ll be closing down our tanning beds and our smoothie bar. Our saunas and private workout room, meanwhile, will remain shuttered. More importantly, we’ll be asking everyone in our facility to wear masks. This policy covers both members and staff, and it includes all areas of our complex and all workouts {not only weights but also cardio}. And finally, we’ll be suspending classes until further notice. If you have any questions about these adjustments, feel free to reach out to us via email {reception@slammersgym.ca}, telephone {250-720-2290}, or Facebook Messenger.

And now for the good news: at least for the moment, it’s still possible for you to come in and work on your wellness. We know that a lot of our members rely on their Slammers visits to keep them sane and healthy, and we are pleased that we can still offer immunity-boosting exercise opportunities.

COVID-19 Update

We are delighted to report that things are improving every day here at Slammers Gym. We did, for a time, ask our members to book workout sessions in advance. Although we remain committed to keeping our staff and our members safe, we’ve been given the green light to dispense with our reservations system. Members are now free to use our facility anytime. We will be observing maximum occupancy limits but – because our complex sprawls across 17,000 square feet and the restrictions are based on size – we don’t anticipate reaching capacity very often. If this does occur, members shouldn’t have to wait more than a few minutes before someone else finishes up their workout and space becomes available.

Similarly, our 24/7 access program is back up and running. Members who wish to exercise after hours are once again free to come down and swipe in whenever they like.

We are also excited to announce that a number of our other features and services will be resuming normal operation in the weeks to come. Our tanning beds are accessible already, and our saunas will be reopening on August 4th. Our fuel bar, meanwhile, will be offering smoothies as of July 13th. Also on July 13th, we will start hosting sessions again over in our fitness classroom. Please see our Classes page for details!

COVID-19 Update

Slammers Gym shut down from March 20th to April 30th in order to help limit the spread of the virus. As of June 1st, however, we are once again welcoming members into our facility. WorkSafeBC and Island Health have both signed off on our Phase 2 operating procedures, and we are doing everything in our power to offer a safe exercise environment.

One of our risk mitigation measures involves limiting the total number of people in our complex at any given time. It is for this reason that {like most other gyms} we are currently asking members to book workout sessions in advance. If you’d like to reserve a slot, please email us at reception@slammersgym.ca, message us via Facebook, or give us a buzz at 250-720-2290.

We’re currently booking sessions up to a week in advance. Please contact us via just one of the channels listed above as multiple requests through multiple platforms create confusion at our end. If you’ve booked a slot but are unable to make it in for any reason, we’d greatly appreciate a heads-up so that we can offer that space to another member.

All memberships are being reactivated now that we’ve reopened our doors. We do understand, however, that not everyone will be comfortable coming back to the gym at this time. Other people may need to leave their memberships on hold for financial reasons. That’s no problem whatsoever.
